How it works

Share a ride in a few simple steps

Rodshare connects people who are already driving somewhere with people heading the same way. Drivers cover their fuel and tolls, passengers pay far less than a private cab, and everyone is verified.

If you need a ride

  1. 1

    Search your route

Enter where you're starting, where you're going and the date. Rodshare shows rides that pass along your route, not just ones that start and end exactly where you do.

  2. 2

    Compare rides and drivers

Each ride shows the departure time, per-seat fare, vehicle, and the driver's profile with KYC badge, rating and number of completed trips. Message the driver if you want to confirm a pickup point.

  3. 3

    Book your seat

Choose how many seats you need and confirm. You'll see the full fare before you book, and the booking appears under My Activity.

  4. 4

    Board with your OTP

On the day, meet the driver at the agreed point and share your boarding OTP. The ride only starts once the OTP matches, so you know you're in the right car.

  5. 5

    Rate the trip

After you arrive, rate the driver. Ratings are two-way and visible on profiles, which is what keeps the community trustworthy.

If you're driving

  1. 1

    Complete KYC once

Upload a government photo ID and your driving licence, take a live selfie, and add your vehicle. Verified drivers get a shield badge passengers can see.

  2. 2

Post a trip you're already making

Add your route, date, time and number of free seats. Rodshare suggests a per-seat fare from the distance and vehicle type, so you share costs instead of running a taxi.

  3. 3

    Accept passengers

Passengers book from the ride feed. You can see their profile and rating, and chat with them inside the app before the trip.

  4. 4

    Verify and drive

Check each passenger's boarding OTP at pickup, then start the ride. Live location sharing is available during the trip.

  5. 5

    Complete and get rated

Mark the ride complete when you arrive. Good ratings help your future rides fill up faster.

How fares are worked out

Rodshare is a cost-sharing platform, not a taxi service. The suggested fare is calculated from the route distance and the vehicle category, then split per seat. Drivers can't inflate it beyond the suggested range, which keeps rides affordable and keeps carpooling non-commercial.

On most intercity routes a seat works out to roughly ₹3–₹6 per kilometre — usually well under half the price of booking a whole outstation cab. You always see the exact fare before you book.

Commuting to the office every day?

Drivers can post an Office Ride that repeats every day or only on chosen weekdays, so a daily commute is posted just once. Passengers find these rides in the Daily Office search tab. Learn more about Office Rides.

Booking a bus instead

No carpool on your date? Rodshare also lists intercity buses. Search your route under Buses, pick a seat, and pay online. Each operator's cancellation policy is shown before you pay.
