Question 1

What is Rodshare?

Accepted Answer

Rodshare is India's first social carpooling platform — a social media app built around shared travel. Users post rides they are driving, join rides posted by the community, and build verified profiles with ratings. It is a social media platform where people connect over carpooling: post your ride, join someone else's ride, and travel together across any Indian state. Available on Android and web at rodshare.com.

Question 2

What is India's first social carpooling platform?

Accepted Answer

Rodshare is India's first social carpooling platform. Launched in 2026, it combines the social mechanics of a social media platform with a full carpooling marketplace. Users create profiles, post rides they are driving (like posting on a social feed), join rides posted by other community members, rate each trip, and build a trusted travel community. Unlike traditional booking apps, Rodshare is community-driven — the rides come from real people in your network, not professional drivers.

Question 3

Is Rodshare a social media platform?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Rodshare is a social media platform specifically built for carpooling and shared travel. Like a social network, users have profiles, post content (rides), interact with other members' posts (by joining rides), and build reputation through ratings and reviews. The home feed shows rides posted by community members near you — making it feel like a social media feed, but every post is a real carpool ride you can join.

Question 4

How is Rodshare different from other carpool apps in India?

Accepted Answer

Rodshare is India's first social carpooling platform — the key difference is that it is built like a social media app, not just a booking tool. On Rodshare: (1) Anyone can post a ride — like posting on social media; (2) Others see those rides in a community feed and join them; (3) Users have social profiles with ratings, trip history, and verified badges; (4) The platform is community-driven, not dispatcher-driven. Other apps are pure booking marketplaces; Rodshare is a social platform where carpooling is the social activity.

Question 5

Can I post my own ride on Rodshare?

Accepted Answer

Yes — posting your own ride is the core feature of Rodshare. If you are driving from City A to City B, open the app or rodshare.com, post your ride with route, date, time, seats available, and per-seat fare. Other Rodshare users see your ride in their feed and can join it. This is exactly how a social platform works: you post, the community engages. Your ride post goes live in seconds and is visible to verified passengers on the same route.

Question 6

What is a social carpooling platform?

Accepted Answer

A social carpooling platform is a social media application built around shared travel. Instead of booking a professional driver (like Uber or Ola), users post their own planned trips and invite others to join and share the cost — exactly like posting on social media and getting responses from the community. Rodshare is India's first such platform: users create profiles, post rides, join rides, rate each other, and build a community of trusted co-travellers.

Question 7

How does the social feed on Rodshare work?

Accepted Answer

Rodshare's home feed works like a social media timeline, but every post is a real carpool ride. When drivers post a ride, it appears in the community feed for passengers on the same route. You can scroll the feed, see who is driving where and when, and join a ride with one tap — just like engaging with a post on social media. The feed is personalised by your location and travel history.

Question 8

Is carpooling legal in India?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Private, non-commercial cost-sharing — where a driver splits fuel and toll on a route they're already driving — is legal across India. Rodshare drivers offer their own existing trips; they are not commercial taxi operators, so no commercial permit is required.

Question 9

How much does a carpool ride cost on Rodshare?

Accepted Answer

Fares are auto-calculated from the route distance, the vehicle category, and the seats offered. Drivers cannot inflate the suggested fare. Typical intercity per-seat fares range from ₹3–₹6 per kilometre, much lower than booking a private cab.

Question 10

How are drivers verified?

Accepted Answer

Every Rodshare driver completes KYC — government photo ID, driving licence, and a live selfie. Verified drivers carry a shield badge on their profile, and riders can see their rating, total completed rides, and reviews before booking.

Question 11

Can I cancel a Rodshare booking?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Cancellations made well before departure are free. Cancellations close to the ride time carry a small fee — same rules apply to both drivers and passengers. The fee is shown before you confirm the cancellation.

Question 12

Is Rodshare safe?

Accepted Answer

Rodshare combines KYC-verified drivers, real-time location sharing during the ride, two-way ratings after every trip, and 24x7 support. Passengers also see vehicle details, the driver's verified profile, and a unique boarding OTP before the ride starts.

Question 13

Which languages does Rodshare support?

Accepted Answer

Rodshare's web and mobile apps support five languages: English, हिन्दी (Hindi), اردو (Urdu), العربية (Arabic), and नेपाली (Nepali). The interface switches direction automatically for RTL languages.

Question 14

How do I book a carpool ride on Rodshare?

Accepted Answer

Search your route on Rodshare, pick a date, and browse available rides. Each listing shows the driver's verified profile, vehicle, departure time, and per-seat fare. Tap 'Book' and pay online or settle in cash with the driver — your seat is confirmed instantly.

Question 15

How do I offer a carpool ride on Rodshare?

Accepted Answer

Download the Rodshare app, complete KYC once (takes under 5 minutes), add your vehicle, then post a ride with your route, date, departure time, and price per seat. Passengers will book seats on your trip and you share the fuel and toll cost.

Question 16

What is the difference between carpooling and a taxi app?

Accepted Answer

On-demand taxi apps connect you with professional commercial drivers. Rodshare is a carpooling marketplace — drivers post trips they are already making and share the cost with co-passengers. There is no professional driver; the person driving is going the same way you are. Seat fares on Rodshare are typically 40–60% cheaper than a private cab on the same route.

Question 17

Is Rodshare a shared cab service?

Accepted Answer

Rodshare is India's leading shared cab and carpooling platform for intercity travel. Unlike app-based taxi services, shared cab rides on Rodshare are posted by real drivers who are already making the trip — you book an empty seat and split the fuel and toll cost. This makes it far cheaper than a private cab or shared taxi booked through other platforms.

Question 18

How is car pooling different from a shared cab?

Accepted Answer

In a shared cab (like a radio taxi shared between strangers), a professional driver makes multiple drop-offs for pay. In car pooling on Rodshare, a private driver heading to the same destination offers their empty seats to cover trip costs — no commercial permit needed, no surge pricing. Car pooling is typically 40–60% cheaper than a shared cab on the same intercity route.

Question 19

Can I book a shared taxi on Rodshare?

Accepted Answer

Yes — think of Rodshare as a smarter shared taxi for intercity routes. Instead of waiting at a taxi stand, you search your route on Rodshare and book a verified driver's seat in advance. Fares are fixed upfront (no haggling), the driver is KYC-verified, and you track the ride live. Popular shared taxi corridors like Delhi–Panipat, Nashik–Pune, and Lucknow–Agra all have active Rodshare listings.

Question 20

Is there a shared cab or carpool service in Kerala?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Rodshare operates across Kerala including popular corridors like Kochi–Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode–Kochi, and Thrissur–Ernakulam. Drivers in Kerala post daily intercity rides on Rodshare; passengers book a seat instead of paying for an entire shared taxi. Search your Kerala route on Rodshare to see live available rides.

Question 21

Does Rodshare work for intercity travel between states?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Rodshare is built for intercity travel. Drivers regularly post rides on corridors like Delhi–Jaipur, Mumbai–Pune, Bengaluru–Chennai, Hyderabad–Vijayawada, and hundreds more across every Indian state. Simply search your city pair to see live rides.

Question 22

Is there a Rodshare mobile app?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Rodshare app is available on Android (Google Play). An iOS version is in development. The full carpooling experience — posting rides, booking seats, real-time location, chat, and payments — is available on the app and on the web at rodshare.com.

Question 23

How does Rodshare calculate the fare?

Accepted Answer

The suggested fare is calculated using the road distance between pickup and drop-off, the vehicle category (hatchback, sedan, SUV), and the number of seats offered. The platform prevents drivers from setting fares higher than the suggestion. Passengers pay only the per-seat amount shown.

Question 24

Can I use Rodshare for daily office commute carpooling?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Rodshare has Office Rides — recurring carpools for your daily commute. A driver posts one office ride that repeats every day (Daily) or only on chosen weekdays (Weekly), backed by an office profile showing their office and designation. Passengers find them in the Daily Office search tab. Office rides work across India, from Gurugram, Noida and Bengaluru to Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai. See rodshare.com/en/office-rides.

Question 25

Is carpooling cheaper than train in India?

Accepted Answer

For most intercity routes in India, a Rodshare carpool seat costs ₹3–₹6 per km — comparable to a 3AC train ticket and often cheaper than a sleeper class on premium trains like Rajdhani or Shatabdi. Unlike trains, carpools depart on your schedule (no fixed slot), pick you up close to your location, and drop you closer to your destination. For routes under 500 km, carpooling is usually the fastest door-to-door option.

Question 26

Is carpool cheaper than bus in India?

Accepted Answer

On most Indian intercity routes, a Rodshare carpool seat is priced similarly to a Volvo AC bus ticket and cheaper than private luxury buses. However, carpooling offers significant advantages: flexible departure time, door-to-door pickup, fewer stops, and faster journey time. For routes where buses take 8+ hours due to multiple stops, a carpool can save 2–3 hours.

Question 27

Is carpooling in India safe for solo female travellers?

Accepted Answer

Rodshare is designed with safety at its core. Every driver is KYC-verified with government ID and driving licence. Passengers see the driver's verified profile, vehicle number, and star rating before booking. During the ride, real-time GPS is shared. A unique boarding OTP prevents wrong pickups. Women travellers can also filter for female co-passengers or female drivers where available. Two-way ratings after every ride keep the community accountable.

Question 28

What is carpooling and how does it work in India?

Accepted Answer

Carpooling (also called car pooling or ride sharing) means multiple people sharing a single private car for the same route — splitting fuel and toll costs. In India, Rodshare makes this digital: a driver heading from City A to City B posts empty seats with a fare; passengers search the same route and book a seat. No professional driver is involved — it is cost-sharing between people traveling the same way. Legal, affordable, and eco-friendly.

Question 29

Which app is best for carpooling in India?

Accepted Answer

Rodshare is India's most trusted carpooling app for intercity routes, offering KYC-verified drivers, real-time GPS tracking, transparent per-seat fares, and rides across all 28 states and 8 union territories. The Android app is free to download on Google Play. For intercity travel between cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, and Kolkata, Rodshare has the highest density of verified carpool listings.
